Dolby Atmos is an advanced, object-based surround sound technology developed by Dolby Laboratories. It is designed to provide a more immersive audio experience by adding height channels to traditional surround sound setups. This allows sound to be placed and moved in a three-dimensional space, all around the listener, creating a more realistic and engaging listening experience for music, movies, TV shows, video games and spatial computing. You can listen to Dolby Atmos on mobile devices, headphones, smart speakers, soundbars, XR devices, TVs and home theater systems, inside cars and movie theaters as well as select music venues. Music Streaming Services such as Apple Music, Tidal and Amazon Music already provide Dolby Atmos for no additional fees.
To have the ultimate music listening experience you can already access hundreds of thousands if not millions of tracks mixed in Dolby Atmos on music streaming services like Apple Music, Tidal or Amazon Music. With Dolby Atmos Music, artists can produce songs that have a 3D sound quality, which surrounds the listener, creating a more natural and engaging experience.
From cinemas to streaming service providers like Apple TV+, Netflix or Disney+ Dolby Atmos is basically the standard for mixing and delivering sound for movies and series. Dolby Atmos enables game developers to create immersive 3D soundscapes that accurately simulate sound sources and their positions within a virtual environment. Stems are exported tracks of your mixed project. It can be each individual instrument with or without effects or groups of instruments. For a detailed explanation of how to export stems click the button below.
Besides the exported Stems we preferably need a Stereo Master of your projects for reference as well as your notes and instructions. For a detailed explanation of the information you need to provide click the button below.
Depending on the amount of stems you exported, select the mixing package on our Services page and book the date you'd like to receive it by (minimum 5 working days starting from the date we receive your stems and required files).
Payments are made in two stages.
Stage 1: 50% of the payment is made at the time of booking your mixing session.
Stage 2: Once your mix is finished and approved you pay the remaining 50% at the time of downloading your Dolby Atmos Master files from our Samply.app account.
Once you booked your mixing package all communication will be through Craft.app and Samply.app (no registration is needed and both can be accessed through a web browser). For a detailed explanation of communication on these platforms click the button below.
Once the mix is finalised you can download a release ready Dolby Atmos Master file in ADM BWF format from our Samply.app project shared with you. You need to give the Dolby Atmos ADM and stereo master files to distributors to release on platforms such as Apple Music, Tidal or Amazon Music.

Dolby Atmos mixing is done in a fully immersive 3D space instead of a standard channel based configuration like stereo, 5.1 or 7.1 surround. Stereo mixes are limited to left and right panning. Traditional surround mixes are limited to a set number of channels, that need to be present in the listeners system as well. Dolby Atmos is object based and therefore can be played on any number of speakers be it a mobile device, headphones or soundbar all the way up to large scale theatre systems with dozens of speakers because it is rendered real time on the playback device for the number of speakers available. When mixing in Dolby Atmos we are able to place instruments and effects (fixed or moving) anywhere in 3D space around the listener.

Stems in music are one or more mixed tracks grouped together. For example, a recording of a snare drum unmixed is usually the part of a multitrack, while the drum bus separately exported from the final mix is a stem.

You can think of stems as fragments of a final mix. While an entire song (Multitrack) might feature 20-100 or more individual tracks, stems can lump them all into a lot less sub-categories. Essentially, stems split your songs into distinct and usable sections.

You can provide us the multitracks, but that means we will need to do a traditional mix as well as the Dolby Atmos mixing process on top of that. Stems ideally should be mixed final tracks or buses of a song that if played all at once will sound like the mixed stereo version of the song.
